Application of Classical Test Theory (CTT) in the Validation of Teacher Made Mathematics Multiple Choice Test (MMCT) Items

Multiple choice items are the most popular item format used in Senior High schools Ghana and even beyond for almost all subjects which mathematics is not an exception. The quality of constructed by classroom teachers essential. Stakeholders depend on results decision making. Little known about teacher made items. This study therefore sought to find out if multiple-choice meet criteria a good assessment instrument using classical test theory approach. Instrumentation research design was used. A purposive simple random sample technique were select one intact class with size 35 at Baidoo Bonsoe School Ahanta West Municipality study. core school Classical estimate content related evidence validity, reliability, difficulty index, discrimination indices distracter analysis It found that only three measured high level cognitive thinking, 14 observed have acceptable 28 discriminated between upper lower groups varying degrees. also 10 without issue defect reliability scores 0.73. recommended training construct should be intensified both whiles institution job.
